What clients have to say about Emma
I cannot praise Barr Ellison's personal injury team too highly. I would without any hesitation recommend their personal injury service to any prospective client. I always felt that we received a very supportive and personal service and were treated with a great deal of respect. The overall level of service was excellent. We were kept informed on a regular basis by email, letter, telephone conversation and face to face meetings. The firm appointed independent, professional experts to offer specialist advice and testimony on matters relating to the case. The advice was totally relevant and went a long way in achieving a satisfactory end to proceedings. Emma Truin was completely professional in the way she handled the case. She was friendly, approachable and always available to answer questions. She provided constant reassurance and was very knowledgeable on legal matters and throughout proceedings Emma dealt with matters promptly and efficiently. She instilled trust and confidence in all our dealings.
Emma, I scarcely know where to start in thanking you and Barr Ellison for the way you have supported and helped me through one of the most difficult periods of my life. I think that without your empathy and understanding, coming to terms with my life after the accident, learning to adapt to new circumstances and being able to look forwards to the future positively would almost certainly not have happened. For that I will always be grateful. I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart and send every good wish for your future. You are a very special person and I have been exceptionally fortunate to have your support.
We will be forever grateful to you Emma for your support, advice and sensitivity throughout the lengthy process, and wish you all the very best. We certainly know who to recommend!
Mr P Byatt
Emma Truin develops strong supportive and understanding relationships with her clients and their families; she goes to see them at home rather than making appointments in her office. She is confident and persuasive in her dealings with other lawyers, whilst always being professional, polite and well mannered. But she can also be hard-nosed and effective when seeking the best settlements for her clients. She is approachable and well-liked, and respected by everyone with whom she works. That is the type of negotiator I would want on my side!
You have been a friend, a colleague and a great supporter of Headway Cambridgeshire and all that we do.

Case Manager Reference
“I am writing this reference in my capacity as an Independent Occupational Therapist and Brain Injury Case Manager. I have been a practising Occupational Therapist for 26 years and within this time have also practised as Brain Injury Case Manager for 17 years.
“I have worked alongside Emma on and off for approximately 10 years in relation to compensation claims where we have been mutually acting on a client’s behalf, Emma in her capacity as a Solicitor and myself in my capacity as a Case Manager.
“I believe that the world of litigation for families who are acting in their loved ones’ best interest can be quite intimidating. Not only are family members or a client’s representative trying to come to terms with the catastrophic and life changing effects of a brain injury but they are also trying to work through a compensation process that will secure the very best outcome for their loved one. It is therefore absolutely crucial that solicitors working within this field have a remarkable quality about them that ensures family members can immediately trust the solicitor who is acting on their behalf and that of their loved one.
“Emma Truin possesses this ability, she has outstanding warmth of character, she is sympathetic and listens carefully to what her clients and their families and carers are telling her. She is tremendously professional and understands the importance of consistent communication and updates for clients and their loved ones who represent them. Emma is clearly aware that the process of going through a litigation claim can be stressful, upsetting and at times confusing. She is always there and has another remarkable quality of being able to explain what is happening and what is going to happen. I believe that Emma provides calmness and clarity and reassures her clients and their loved ones 100% that they are in safe hands.”
