New Recruits to Barr Ellison's Commercial Team

Barr Ellison’s rapidly expanding Commercial team has just been given a significant boost with the arrival of Michael Denmead, a heavyweight commercial property solicitor with a London pedigree, an MBA and an appetite for complex commercial property deals – some with a value of around £100 million.

Michael’s appointment follows hard on the heels of Ed Bailey, a company commercial lawyer. He too has a strong commercial background having run his own successful communications company before embarking on a career change and entering the law.

Obviously delighted with his two new recruits, Michael Barham, Barr Ellison’s chief executive said: “Michael and Ed’s appointments close months of searching for candidates with the right blend of depth and breadth.

“Barr Ellison is not an easy firm to break into. We don’t look simply for the depth that legal experience and expertise brings - we actively seek out solicitors who have hands-on commercial experience.

“Michael worked as a business analyst with multi-nationals prior to qualifying as a solicitor.  His insight into the goals and structures of companies make him an excellent partner to ’plug into’ and work with the property teams of our commercial clients.

“Ed ran his own communications consultancy in France and knows exactly what it is like to view commercial and company law from the client’s perspective. He has a particular expertise in the law relating to the Internet and E-commerce.

“Recruiting at this level is never easy.  It takes time and patience to find candidates who you know will fit seamlessly into client teams, who can apply the law creatively and with enthusiasm, who can give reliable advice at the highest level, and crucially, who understand the commercial imperatives that drive businesses forward.”
